Chelsea overcame a two-goal deficit to win the London derby and close the gap on the Reds to four points.

Chelsea came within four points of Premier League leaders Liverpool after a thrilling 4-3 victory over Tottenham Hotspur, which was capped by Cole Palmer’s penalty double.
In the previous season’s match, Chelsea defeated nine-man Spurs 4-1, but it took a tremendous comeback after Marc Cucurella’s mistakes gave the home team an early 2-0 lead at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Dejan Kulusevski’s accurate finish and Dominic Solanke’s well-taken opening goal placed Spurs ahead by two goals, but Jadon Sancho’s exquisite finish cut the deficit.

After Enzo Fernandez had put the Blues ahead, Palmer won another penalty kick, which he coolly dinked past Fraser, and he tied the score with his first penalty soon after the hour mark.

With a 100% conversation rate, Palmer is now the Premier League’s highest-scoring penalty taker.

Son Heung-min’s stoppage-time goal set up a nerve-wracking finish for Chelsea, but they persevered to pull away from Arsenal in second place and gain ground on Liverpool. Spurs, meanwhile, are in 11th place following their second loss in three days. Brennan Johnson blasted down the right after

How the match unfolded

Cucurella’s careless mistake close to the halfway line, and Solanke reached ahead of Levi Colwill to give Spurs the lead with the winger’s low cross in the fifth minute.

Six minutes later, Cucurella missed his footing again, and Pedro Porro nipped in before Kulusevski cut inside and finished with a precise finish in the bottom-right corner.

The Chelsea comeback started when Sancho darted inside and hammered home with the assistance of the right-hand post, cutting the deficit in half. Son’s late goal from James Maddison’s cutback pass was only a consolation as Palmer, who had been fouled by Sarr for the second penalty attempt, chipped his penalty down the middle in the 84th minute, leaving the Spurs custodian on the ground.

Palmer equalised from 12 yards in the 61st minute after Yves Bissouma challenged Moises Caicedo, and Fernandez then smashed past the defenceless Forster to give Chelsea the lead.
